30//08//02 - Surfing Dreamland

Dreamland offers two main peaks. One at the left end of the beach at high tide which is a lefthander with a difficult takeoff.

The other one, the actual 'Dreamland' peak is an A-frame wave that offers a short right which mushes out into the channel and a fast left on which you have to get off before it closes out. It's best at mid to low tide.

Both peaks can handle quite some size whereas the actual peak needs some swell to work and can not be recognized with a small swell.

It's best to go out in the morning before the crowds of day tourists arrive but in the afternoon it always seemed to be a bit bigger (and more crowded).

From Dreamland you can also see Binging and Impossibles breaking on the left and even further out you can spot Padang-Padang and Uluwatu.

A twenty minutes walk to the right of Dreamland takes you to Balangan, also a lefthander like most of the breaks here, which we surfed with a smaller swell at low tide. Take care of the shallow reef!

Belangan is a good choice when Dreamland doesn't break because of high tide or a too small swell because it is always bigger.
