28//08//02 - Dreamland

As we had a couple of days before university started we decided to head south to a beach called 'Dreamland'. This would be our first trip within Bali.

Dreamland was the right name for this place: Beautiful clear water, white sand and of course nice waves.

We stayed in a losmen also called homestay located directly on the beach. At high tide our bed was about 5m away from the shore break so that at night in our beds we could hear and feel(!) the waves pounding on the beach.

The losmes are very simple, actually only a room with two beds, but prices a fairly cheap.

Apart from surfing there was not much to do for us. A daily highlight were the tourists who came to Dreamland just for one day and got caught in the dangerous currents or tried surfing for the first time in the heavy shore break.

Another thing was learning the local language called Bahasa Indonesia with the help of the 'bepak' (father) of the family who taught us how to pronounce the words correctly.
